Count Roland, Prefect of the Marchs of Britany.
Killed during the battle of Roncevaux Pass (15th. August 778), legendary knight, hero of the "Chanson de Roland" and of many poems.
Shown here with his "Durendal" sword and the "Oliphant" horn used during the battle to call his uncle Charlemagne (Emperor Carolus Magnus / Karl der Grosse).
